The American-made holiday gift checklist
A one-page planner for buying gifts that are really made in the USA. Print it or keep it open. It takes about ten minutes to fill in.
Plan
- List who you are buying for and set a budget for each person in the table below.
- Pick an idea from our hub guide or filter all picks by budget.
- Open the pick’s origin receipt and read the caveat. Some lines are only partly American-made.
- Confirm the exact model. Check the maker’s page for the specific item, size and color you plan to buy.
- Check the shipping cutoff on the maker’s site, especially for food and for anything personalized.
- Order, then tick the box and write the date on the line.

Three questions to ask before you buy “Made in USA”
- Is it the maker’s claim or the seller’s? A marketplace listing is written by the seller. The maker’s own page is a better source.
- Does the claim cover this exact item? Many makers build some lines here and import others.
- Does the label say “with imported parts” or “assembled in USA”? Those are honest wordings. An unqualified “Made in USA” should mean all or virtually all.
